Similar Questions. I have the HP compaq dc7700 with mother 0a58h HP. I currently have the installed Intel e6400 CPU, but I have the Intel core 2 quad q9550 carrying around and based on the official list of HP upgrade that must be supported. So I put it (it was on the right track) but the only thing I got was 9 beeps of equal length. So I thought it was just that the BIOS update.
I went to the drivers/software section and downloaded the update of the BIOS (from 01.15 to 4.02 or something). So I followed the instructions and extract the file. Then I opende the flash.pw file but it does not open!
He repeated to me that I need the 32-bit or 64-bit version. I have 64 bit. I tried both and did not work. I downgraded to Windows 7 and did not work. But then, I thought the q9550 CPU uses 95W but the e6400 only 65W, but there should be no problem because he has on some power just do nothing I guess. Maybe I need to put it on a USB key?
Please help me. Thank you Hello: The Q9550 is not certainly supported in the dc7700. The dc7700 won't work any processor with a FSB of 1333 MHz. The best you can do in this machine is the E7600, and he needs a 3rd party program until the multiplier. I've heard stories that someone installed the Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 (2.66 GHz, 8 MB L2 cache, 1066 MHz FSB) Here's the problem with the file you are trying to install.
This is a BIOS utility, not a BIOS update. The drivers have been completely erased from the HP support site. HP have a major problem with good number of pilots for hundreds of business PC.
I don't know how they're going to solve this problem, but they have better. It's been weeks that these drivers have disappeared. I reported the problem 2 weeks ago and all they told me is that they are aware of the problem.
Hello I recently bought an old DC 7700p but I can't figure out what bios to use updated. The specifications of the system are: Core 2 Duo E6400 512 MB Ram (which I upgraded to 2 GB) 80 GB HARD drive GMA 3000 onboard And there seemed to be a Quadro NVS 280 in the PCI slot and a NVS 285 in the PCI-E slot I can't use yet, as I do not have a DMS-59 adapter The problem im having is that in the description of the product this product Intel Vpro technology however since the seller was selling in bulk, I don't know if all of the pc were infact vpro that my pc doesn't have a vpro on that sticker I can't find something to do with vpro technology. Is there a way I can confirm if I vpro, so I can determine whether Flash Bios Update for PCs with Vpro or those without it? The reason why I want to update the bios is because until I get my cable Adpater for the gpu, I want to use the vga integrated however I could get only this works if I physically unplug the motherboard cards and I found no option for this in the bios.

Currently I have BIOS version 786E1 v1.09, who seems to be old and hoped that a more recent bios will be options I'm looking for. Also my SKU number is ET090AV if its any help You are the very welcome. I would invest in a little money in a dedicated video card with dvi/vga/hdmi, if you want to connect the PC to a TV if you get HD video and sound via a HDMI cable. If you connect the intel 3000 video vga tv-out port, you will get no sound and analog video. Add it on the map that you deleted would probably not be better for this - and once again, no sound. Here is a link to a card fanless for video nice, quiet, at a decent price. One thing to know when you install a video card with HDMI on an older HP business desktop as a dc7700.
After installing the card, your integrated audio system will be very probably disabled. This is because there is a HDMI audio chip on the circuit of graphics card. A dc7700 is too old for the BIOS to make the difference between whether or not you have also added a new sound card, so it disables the onboard sound and the integrated video.
Currently you will not oboard audio setting in BIOS. But after I installed a video card with HDMI output, you will. After installing the drivers for the restart of the video card, go into the BIOS menu advanced settings and find the onboard audio setting. It will be set to Disabled. Change the active setting. Save the setting here and even once, when you go out.
After you restart, you will have the back of Board. When you connect an HDMI cable to the TV, you should have audio and video to the TV via the HDMI cable. You may need to select the HDMI sound in Control Panel article to change the setting of the HDMI to the TV speakers. This part, I do not know because I have never connected a TV to my PC.
I have a question: Not too long ago I put the Bios Update on A Rev 3.87 was considered to be as critical an update on my workstation Z420 (running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit), and lately I've found that the CPU idling at about 20 degrees more hot than before. I used to hear creaking noises coming from the computer I learned normally come circuits on the motherboard power delivery, but as long as I heard those CPU would be on average around 50 degrees C at idle. I hear these noises and now the CPU is on average around 70-75 degrees C at idle. Not sure what the connection is. HP performance Advisor tells me I'm in the normal range, but I want to just make sure that with programs like Autodesk Maya there, she become too hot and stop the machine. I don't know what the temp high-end is considered maximum security. This change could have due to the update of the Bios?
Sep 19, 2014 - Windows To Go is a new feature in the Windows 8 Enterprise. To Go workspace) into any Windows 7–based or Windows 8–based host. Internet explorer 8 for windows xp.
Thank you for your response and suggestions. I check in my BIOS power management settings has been developed the extended mode, but the temperature has always hovered around 70-78 degrees at idle. I checked Intel spec for this (E5 - 1650 6-core xeon) processor, clocked at 3.2 Ghz by heart, and although he said nothing on the TMax, he mentioned that the TCase (which he defined as the maximum temperature allowed integrated processor heat sink (IHS)) was 64 degrees Celsius. Now my temperature of the case, according to my HP Performance Advisor version 1.7.7517.0 is only about 24 degrees C, but I put my fan a little higher CPU, about 2009 rpm speed. This makes a little more noise, but my CPU temp has dropped to about 49 °.
' Before the change of the fan speed has been slightly more than 1300 RPM while the Advisor I have always said that it is in the range 'normal'. Is it good to get the speed of the CPU fan like that or do I have to go a little lower?
James Holman. Hi all I've updated the BIOS version 2.7 and NIC LAN just disappeared from my list of device.
The wireless network card works fine however. When I plug the ethernet cable, the green light turns orange not, so I guess that it is not broken, as it worked fine before the BIOS update. I tried different drivers lan Windows XP and still nothing. Any ideas please?

Hello It seems that the OS Vista was preinstalled on this laptop. This means that you have installed the Windows 7 system to your own hand. The point is that BIOS update requires a few essential tools of Toshiba. For example, the package of value added is an important software package and must be preinstalled on the laptop. VAP is installed? If this isn't the case, install the PPV before trying to update the BIOS.
Hello I have problems with the update the BIOS of my Tecra R10J. The current version is 1.4, and I want to upgrade to 3.0, so I downloaded from the Toshiba web site the good file named 'P006Cv300.exe' 2009-11-04 released. It is an update of the BIOS online in a real session of Windows 7. Simply right click the compress exe, click Run as admin and that is all, but. For me, he said:.

I hope I could help. Hey. I just want to share my experience with the update of the bios on my computer hp 8710w laptop and talk to HP support. I've updated F.0E to F.20 and after that this fan went wild. In windows 7 it works very well every boots 2 / 3, or more. All fans of time runs fast, no matter what the system load and temperature are. What makes the portable noisy.
I used to use linux and it just fan slow down after spinning up to cool the system. It is really something that you want to have, because it becomes a noisy vacuum cleaner with an excellent machine and quiet. I have enough evidence to assume that the problem was caused by the update of the bios.
First of all, it started exactly after the bios update when nothing else has been changed. Secondly, 5 years ago I had a very similar laptop (8710p) and when I have updated the bios to F.0F, it's the same thing, but I fortunately downgraded the bios and everything was back to normal. In addition, reported others on the internet and these discussion forums. Now with the update of F.20. There is no way to downgrade. It's embarrassing: HP has released a update this feature breaks.
And there is no way back (except the replacement of the card system, which is expensive for laptops out of warranty). I was the cat and then talk on the phone with HP support. They are not really very close to professional. First, they said that my windows 7 is not officially supported and should I install xp or vista.
I have xp installed specially for them, and which consumes a lot of time. Of course, nothing has changed. And they actually all drivers for windows 7.
The best advice of hp support has been trying to install all previous versions of the bios. I reported a failure on each one, then only, they found in the description of the version F.20 could not be downgraded. After reading the forums here for 15 minutes, I knew much more technical support on my laptop and the question, lol. After talking with me for a time very long (like 3 or 4 hours) and say that I try to restart my machine, or start with the Windows key + b, etc., they said that my laptop is out of warranty, and there is nothing that they can help me with. I confess that the laptop is out of warranty.
But only suffers from the update of the official firmware that cannot be downgraded. Yes, I know I'm supposed to buy a new replacement HP laptop. This look bad. Now, I'll get a replacement bios chip, programmed with the previous version of the bios and soldered to the motherboard. Hello to the guys at HP support. They are nice people who try to be useful, they don't know anything about their products:-) Hello programmers to the HP bios. Please be better, please learn that bugs can be corrected.

Toshiba may explain why they distribute updates of Slayers and offer on how to get my machine back to life. Two identical machines so we leave my wife running on the old bios. Hello This s pity companion Looks like the BIOS update procedure has failed, which means that you need a help of a technician of the ASP I hope that the ROM module was not too bad. We had an about 12 laptops Toshiba Satellite S500 delivered, 11 x S500 - 11 c and 1 x S500-10F. As we do not yet support windows 7 so he must rebuild in Windows XP, install the drivers etc, and send them to schools. All S500 - 11 c were built and work without any problem at all. The only difference I see is that the model 10F doesn't have bluetooth so that the model 11 c. Model 10F take image ghost, created from the 11 c, but he likes to be restart every 5 minutes approximately and is extremely slow. So I rebuilt the model 10F using our licenses CD XP SP3 Microsoft and started to install drivers etc.
When I installed the software of card reader Ricoh the laptop again slowed down (about 5 minutes to start Windows). I used to have a similar problem with a model on the A300 range and I've updated the BIOS which cured the problem.
I downloaded the one and only BIOS update on the Toshiba site for the S500 and when I want intsaller, he returned with a message that says 'this computer is is not supported. If someone at Toshiba can tell me where I can get an update of the BIOS that works for my S500-10F or indeed why my system slowed down to a snails pace after having installed the Ricoh card reader software I would be very grateful. I removed the software and now and disabled without success card reader devices. Thank you very much Warren Poole I can see for this Satellite Pro model 2 drivers are available. Hi, I'm currently testing our software against HP DC7700's and have encountered a problem that I hope someone can help me with. The problem is as follows: The HP systems BIOS was very old, v1.05. As this version is known to have problems i updated the BIOS with v2.10 (The version for systems with Intel ME). After the upgrade my BIOS gives the following system information:. System BIOS = 786E1 v02.10. ME Firmware Version = 2.0.4.1122 During the boot process there is a period where the ME information is displayed. Everything seems to go well, however after the 'ME-BIOS Sync - Sucessfull' an error is shown.
2218-ME Firmware Version should be updated. ME BIOS Extension module execution has halted. Update BIOS or Management Engine firmware if problem persists. Can anyone please tell me how to fix this. I just updated the BIOS with the latest version available from the HP website. There are 3 things that need to be updated; BIOS Management Engine (ME) AMT Firmware It looks like the HPQFlash.exe utility does not upgrade the AMT firmware.
Just the BIOS and ME. You are receiving the message because the BIOS and ME got updated, but not the AMT firmware. To update the AMT firmware from within Windows: (You will need to have the HECI driver and LMS service installed) -Open the 'ME Flash' folder of the BIOS download from HP -Copy 2131031.BIN to the 'ME Flashlocal-win' folder -Open a command prompt and point to 'ME Flashlocal-win' folder -run FWUpdLcl.exe with the -generic switch FWUpdLcl.exe -generic. HP has it available in their drivers download section under the name 'Intel Local Management Service (LMS) and Serial-over-LAN (SOL) Support'. 'The Host Embedded Controller Interface (HECI) driver is a software interface that is used to communicate to the Intel AMT subsystem (Management Engine) to access Intel AMT capabilities. Communication between the local host operating system (OS) and the Management Engine (ME) is accomplished by means of the HECI driver.
HECI is bi-directional, as either the host OS or Intel AMT firmware can initiate transactions. The Local Manageability Service (LMS) is a service that runs locally (in the user space) in the host operating system. LMS listens for the request directed to the Intel AMT local host and when a application sends SOAP/HTTP message addressed to the local host then LMS intercepts the request and routes the request to the Management Engine Interface via the HECI driver.
In short, the LMS enables local management applications to send requests, and receive responses to the local Intel AMT device.' Just to clarify, LMS runs as Windows Service.
Awaking an old thread here. Hoping for some response anyway. I have trouble completing FWUpdLcl.exe -generic to resolve the problem with a halting BIOS. I'm running Vista Ultimate 64bit on a DC7700 SFF. The machine runs after bios-update but I get the error message at boot up. Also every second time I boot the machine halts after BIOS error message.
I need to cycle power twice and THEN i boots Vista fine. So, after Googleing a while I conclude that I need the FWUpdLcl.exe -generic solution to run.
When I run it all I get is an empty command prompt. Nothing runs - not to be seen anyway. I installed LMS and tried to install HECI but when running the softpaq for HECI I get an error message saying the program cannot run. Is that perhaps an 64 bit issue?
Any tips and ideas? Itil checklists. Quoting - There is a Vista64 driver for the MEI, so you need to be running that driver. The XP32 driver should work just fine for Server2003. As said before, you should contact HP to get the latest drivers and firmware.
I found a version of the HECI driver that installed fine on my machine. Rebooted and ran: FWUpdLcl.exe 2211034.BIN -generic Voila! Error message is gone.
The one about halting BIOS. BUT I still have the trouble of the power cycling thing every second time I reboot. I installed the AMT managment client and it reports AMT is dissabled.
I then configured AMT via ctrl-p but this makes no difference. Any ideas on the power cycling? Can I revert to an older versions of the BIOS or the Management Engine (ME) or the AMT Firmware as this wasn't an issue before the upgrades.
Where do I find older versions? Regards Jonas.
The 2006 with venerable processor looking up at me from the far end of the work bench was going to be my next load victim. Problem is, it’s easier to take an existing 32-bit load of Windows 10 and upgrade to the 64-bit version. I do want to get back to Linux. Lubuntu is going to be one distro I will consider trying on older PCs. To comment on this story, visit. But there are a couple of problems with any Linux distro on vintage machines:.
USB Wi-Fi adapter support is not nearly as great as for Windows 10 boxes, and;. Available graphics resolutions are typically a crapshoot (with minimal choices); I need more than 1024 x 768 out of the box, even on aged desktops. The performance of Windows 10 on older PCs continues to impress. If an Intel box is running Windows 7, it’ll, generally speaking, run Windows 10, although I advise boosting ram if at all possible. You pretty much can’t go wrong with the. Redmond will inform you if the PC doesn’t make the cut upon attempting installation. The 32-bit version of the Windows 10 OS residing on the HP Dc7700 was an update from Windows 8.1, and prior to that, Windows 7.
Updates work OK, but there’s nothing like nuking and paving for a fresh start that restores the PC to optimal performance. Erasing the hard drive is the only path from Windows 10 32-bit to 64. In this instance, it was a no-brainer to back up anything important and begin the reformat and OS install.
I did take the base install of 2GB of memory and increase it to 4GB before starting. The machine can take 8GB, but 4GB is adequate for this project. Like a load of some form of Linux on this box, I anticipated Windows 10 64-bit graphics being equally limited with respect to the base display resolutions the built-in Intel graphics could provide running this OS. Sure enough, the display resolution that greeted me at first boot after install was the inadequate 1024 x 768 variety - and that was the most advanced option available.
No problem, I thought, maybe I could find some updated graphics drivers at HP’s site. I give HP a lot of credit for maintaining an active repository of drivers and things like BIOS updates for machines of this vintage. But I’m a realist. I didn’t know how far beyond support the repository would go.
I fully expected it to tap out not much beyond XP. And I was correct. Windows 7 Professional 32-bit is the end of the road in terms of HP's support for this PC. But I needed 64-bit Windows 10 Support. What’s an old geek to do?
Lower his expectations. Clicking the drop down menu for OS support and scrolling down further revealed drivers for. Or so I thought.
After downloading and installing Intel Graphics Driver for Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit Editions) (International), and attempting to install I was greeted with: “This version is incompatible with this operating system.” I tried running as Administrator and the installer went a bit further before booting me out with the same message. I thought “some” of the install may have been completed, however, so I rebooted. I went to the desktop, right clicked and checked available resolutions. I had over a dozen new choices available for selection. The HP desktop with a fresh load of 64-bit was working great. The 3 rd party after-market USB Wi-Fi adapter that Linux never recognized worked out of the box on this machine.
The graphics were fine, now, too. Microsoft’s Windows 10 has succeeded in a big way.
Part of the reason is it doesn’t hurt that Windows 10 supports very old machines with minimal tweaking. Some form of 64-bit Linux may yet find its way back to this vintage PC.
With Windows 10 Pro 64-bit running capably, though, the Tech Oracle doesn’t envision that happening any time soon. This article is published as part of the IDG Contributor Network.
I'm trying to see if I can get some advice for properly flashing the BIOS on the computer that I recently got my hands on. Essentially, I have been building a PC out of components that I got off a decomissioned dc7700 cmt PC from my University, and what I did was take the motherboard and its CPU (Intel Pentium D, I belive it's the 945 at 3.4 GHz), and get a new PSU, a PC case from a friend, and a new Hard Drive. I installed Windows 10 64 bit on the fresh HDD, and as it sits, the computer has 1GB of DDR2 RAM (RAM Sticks I bought haven't arrived yet). Currently, the BIOS version on it is the Hewlett-Packard 786E1 v01.05 8/30/2006. I want to upgrade to the latest BIOS available for this computer, so that I can swap out the Processor for a more advanced Core 2 Duo in the future, and so that it can recognized the RAM amount that I install without any problems (8GB in total). I checked the softpaq method, but there isn't a softpaq for Windows 10 for this old of a machine.
I also wanna make sure that the Motherboard doesn't get bricked, because that would be the end of my PC dreams TT. In any case, I'll appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks in advance. Hi, Yes, you are correct. The F10 BIOS flashing method would be the best and easiest way to go about updating the BIOS. You would use BIOS version: 1.16 Rev.
A Here is how you do it. Get a USB flash drive.
Format it with the FAT32 file system. Download and run the BIOS file above. An information page will open. Follow the instructions listed under the F10 Setup BIOS Flashing section.
Click on the View Contents of DOS Flash Folder link at the bottom of that section. You will now see the BIOS files you need to copy and paste to the USB flash drive. After you copy the BIOS files to the flash drive, restart the PC, tap the F10 key to get access to the BIOS. Select the File tabflash system ROM command. Select the USB flash drive and the PC should 'see' the BIOS update files. Follow the on screen instructions to update the BIOS. I don't think you need to update the BIOS to run 8 GB of memory.
The dc7700 CMT and SFF PC's should support 4 x 2 GB of PC2-6400 memory, with a 64 bit operating system. There used to be a HP document that stated that, but I can only find ones that show 4 x 1 GB are supported. Hi, Yes, you are correct. The best processor you can upgrade to without any issue would be the Conroe C2D 2.66 Ghz E6700 processor. The Wolfdale E6700 will not work at all. The C2D E7x00 processors will work, but with issues as discussed at the link below. Personally, I wouldn't waste my time dealing with those problems when the Conroe E6700 is good enough. But that is up to you.
In the below discussion, I have given you all the info you need to update the processor microcode table in the BIOS, and the utility to run an E7x00 processor at its fastest multiplier. There may be a way to automatically start the utility.
I think there are instructions to do that on the crystal mark site.
My company uses HP DC7700 desktop computers for all of the users. These are pretty solid machines if you ask me. I have never really had any problems with them. Some may disagree with me, but I really like HP desktops. We all have our favorites right? This is the first time I was left rubbing my head wondering to myself, why the hell did they design something this way. I of course am talking about their method for flashing the BIOS.
I downloaded their BIOS update utility that allows users to flash their BIOS directly from Windows XP. I have used their flashing utilities in the past with no problems, but this time after updating the BIOS and rebooting I got the following error at post: 2218-ME Firmware Version should be updated. ME BIOS Extension module execution has halted. Update BIOS or Management Engine firmware if problem persists. After that error, Windows still boots up. I look online and find that prior to updating the BIOS, you also need to run their Management Engine update utility too.
Okay, no problem. Their download comes with that. However, before you can run that, you need to install the Intel chipset driver updates! Can we say convoluted?
